In this work, SmCrO3 nanopowder was synthesized via sol gel route assisted by citric acid and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in water. The obtained SmCrO3 perovskite oxide nanopowder exhibits strong fluorescence at near-UV and visible regions in polar solvents such as ethyl acetate (EtOAc), tetrahydrofuran (THF) and ethyl methyl ketone (EMK) that its fluorescence could be strongly quenched by nitro explosives such as TNP, TNT, HMX and RDX at room temperature.
