Hierarchically porous materials offer the opportunity for catalyst development in regards to improving catalytic performances. In the present work, the combination of latex synthesis, sonochemical reduction and two-step catalysed sol–gel process has been demonstrated to be a versatile method for preparing supported catalysts with tailored hierarchical porosity.
